Former White Sox catcher Carlton Fisk pleaded guilty today to a misdemeanor DUI charge after mixing alcohol and prescription drugs and driving into a New Lenox farm field.
Fisk received one year of court supervision and must pay court costs of $1,250 -- the standard disposition for 1st-time DUI offenders in Will County, said special prosecutor Dave Neal.
Fisk's attorney, Stephen White, said in court of his client: "He stepped up to the plate and said, 'I want to accept responsibility for what I did.' I admire that."
White said he believed they had a winnable case.
Fisk will have to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation as well as counseling, and attend a victim impact panel.
Fisk, who has a Florida driver's license but lives part-time in New Lenox, was found Oct. 22 passed out inside a pickup truck in a farm field near Gougar and Spencer roads. A bottle of vodka was also found inside the vehicle.
